It’s strange how some authors slip past you.  I’ve known about Maria Haskins for a few years via the internet and writing groups, but somehow missed that she had published books available.  Well, fortunately that lapse in my education was corrected.

Description:

Eight stories of dark fantasy, science fiction, and horror. Featuring unicorns, pirates, a cat, a demon, magic, and glimpses of mythology (among other things) – there’s a pinch of everything in this collection of flash fiction! All eight stories originally appeared on R.B. Wood’s Word Count Podcast, and are now available as an ebook for the first time.

Review:

Dark Flash is a wonderful collection of short stories that get right to the point, but weave a tale you won’t quickly forget.  Haskins has a way with words.  Long after I’d finished this collection, I’d be thinking about one story or another from this collection. A very talented author, she has the enviable talent to be able to draw in the reader with a few words and keep them entranced.  I really enjoyed each of these shorts and strongly recommend this collection to those that like their short stories a little bit darker than the norm.
